Next-generation disease-modifying medicines for ALS and Parkinson’s
Every day, people living with neurodegenerative diseases face challenges that affect health, independence and hope. At NRG Therapeutics, we are working to transform the lives of patients, their families and carers by reducing the impact of these devastating diseases.
We are developing innovative oral medicines for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease (MND), and Parkinson’s, with a clear goal; to bring meaningful new treatments to people who urgently need them.
Advancing disease-modifying medicines
Underpinned by first-in-class chemistry and a novel mechanism-of-action, our lead clinical asset NRG5051 is advancing through Phase 1 clinical trials. NRG5051 is designed to reach the brain following oral dosing, where it can address the underlying biological mechanisms that drive ALS and Parkinson’s.
Therapeutic approach driven by breakthrough mitochondrial science
Our science is rooted in a breakthrough understanding of mitochondrial dysfunction — a fundamental driver of cellular stress, neuroinflammation and neuronal damage. By targeting NLRX1 – a key component or regulator of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) – and restoring mitochondrial integrity and energy, we aim to slow or halt disease progression and protect the neurons vital for normal brain health and function.
Our mission is simple and powerful: to develop innovative new medicines that bring real benefit to people living with ALS, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases – and to change what is possible for millions of families and their caregivers worldwide.”
